Combination Hair Transplant Technique:

As the name suggests, this method combines two techniques, FUE and FIT. In other words, it is a combination of these two procedures. With this method, individual hair follicles are extracted using the FUE technique, and a strip of hair is also harvested from the donor area using the FIT technique. The FIT procedure is performed first, followed by the use of the FUE technique to increase the density in the recipient area. By combining these two techniques, up to 15,000 hair strands can be transplanted and grafted in a single-day procedure.

Who is suitable for the combination hair transplant technique?

  • Individuals with a large area of hair loss.
  • Those who desire a high-density hair transplant.

Steps involved in the combination hair transplant technique:

  1. Visiting a specialist doctor.
  2. Examination and consultation with the physician.
  3. Photography of the donor and recipient areas.
  4. Relevant tests are conducted.
  5. Design and delineation of the donor and recipient areas (the most important aspect being the hairline).
  6. Surgery and extraction of the strip from the donor area using the FIT technique.
  7. Preparation and extraction of hair follicular units from the strip under a microscope by a technician.
  8. Extraction of hair follicular units from the donor area using the FUE technique.
  9. Preservation of the extracted follicular units.
  10. Preparation of the extracted follicular units for transplantation.
  11. Finally, grafting the extracted follicular units from both techniques into the recipient area.

Advantages of the combination hair transplant technique:

  • It is the most reliable method for achieving high-density and extensive hair transplants.
  • Results in a natural-looking hair transplant and hairline.
  • Provides the highest possible density in a single session.
  • Up to 15,000 hair strands (or 5,000 grafts) can be easily transplanted in a single procedure.

Disadvantages of the combination hair transplant technique:

  • Not suitable for individuals with diabetes, uncontrolled hypertension, asthma, or advanced age.
  • Possibility of visible scarring in the suture area.
  • Risk of bleeding and hematoma.
  • It is an invasive procedure and requires more care.
  • Longer recovery period compared to the microFIT technique.
  • Not suitable for individuals with limited scalp elasticity.
